Trip From Bangalore To Ooty By Bike

Hi Guys,

I am sharing my experience of a latest solo bike trip from Bangalore to Ooty.

700.5 KM Total distance covered from Bangalore to Ooty.

4.00 AM Saturday Morning --->  Started from my CV Raman Nagar Bangalore to Mysore. 159 KM.

I have packed all my stuff and ready to leave for Ooty at sharp 4 AM. It took approx 1 hour for me to cross the city traffic and at 7 AM I was in Mysore.

In Mysore, you have 3 ways to go to Ooty, and the shortest one is to take the left turn from the main crossing before entering the city. You can see a board to Ooty at your right and map might show a route to go straight. But if you are not interested to see anything in the city then better to take left and go to Ooty so you can save 38 KM by this.

You will able to find out that. Don't follow the map blindly.

Mysuru To Masinagudi via Bandipur - 100 KM  - Route is good.  You can easily go 100 speed and that depends on your bike condition as well.

You will be travelling in Bandipur Tiger Reserve for approx 20 KM and the route is so good and refreshing. Better to start early in morning to enjoy the scenic beauty. You will find many Deer on the way.

After Crossing Bandipur national park You will enter in Tamil Nadu.

Mudumalai National Park, India  --- > Masinagudi  7 KM in Mudumalai  Tiger reserve. Same as Bandipur National park.

After crossing Mudumalai you will see a small Bridge on your left. So now you have 2 ways to go to Ooty.

Route 1-  Go by Hairpin Band - 36 Hairpin points and the route is very exciting and thrilling. Less in distance.

Route 2- Go Straight after Mudumalai, This route is straight and you will be travelling Furthermore in Mudumalai national park for 50 KM more and be reaching Gudalur to Ooty.
on this Route, you can see.

A- Shooting Point

B- Tree Park.

C- Pykara Lake and Waterfall

D- Kamaraj Sagar Dam

E - Government Botanical Garden, Ooty, Tamil Nadu, India

This all will be around 20 KM travel in the way of to Ooty.

I will suggest To go by route 2 and after reaching Ooty if you feel comfortable, you can search for Kamaraj Sagar Dam and follow the same route to see all other places as well.

So Day 1 is completed. I have visited.

So day one completed and then I reached back to the hotel.

Day 2 Begin

Morning, I got up late and then decided to go to Coonoor by train. This was just to see the very famous Toy Train.  I have boarded from Lovedale and it took 40 minutes to reach to Coonoor and take 1.40 minutes from Ooty railway station. From Lovedale total, 4 stations will be coming on the way.

The experience was very good but I did not explore any place in Coonoor Which I will do on my next trip to Ooty. You can go by bike as well, it's only 40 minutes run and in case if you want to explore more in Coonoor.

We reached Coonoor at 10.30 AM

You can check the schedule on http://www.ootytourism.co.in/ooty-toy-train-mountain-railway since this is day wise differ.

After reaching Coonoor, we clicked few photos and headed back to Ooty by catching the train from Wellington.

Sometimes you will not get train tickets from Coonoor station since so much crowd will be present and they give only limited no of tickets. So better to take an auto and come to the nearby station which is Wellington and take the train ticket. For us, auto had charged only 60 rupees. Don't book a cab or anything else that will cost more and take more time. This is the hack which we applied and no one was present at Wellington station. we enjoyed a lot at the station.

I reached Lovedale by 12.15 PM and had lunch and started for Avalanche Lake.

I will be sharing the details of Avalanche national forest range soon. But it always takes a complete day to reach
